IBM Tivoli® Data Backup Service

Regulated Climate Control

The data centers' HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) systems are N+1 redundant. With full particle filtering and humidity control, the storage temperatures are maintained at cool 72 degrees to ensure ideal performance environment for your server.

Power Systems

The Network center is not reliant upon the local power grid to guarantee maximum uptime. Onsite, auto-switched power generators and centralized UPS systems provide power conditioning and ensure uninterrupted data center operation. Additionally, every major component of the emergency power system is regularly serviced and tested to ensure that they will continue functioning in the event of an emergency.

Datacenter Security

Data centers are physically isolated from everyone but level three technicians. Public access is strictly forbidden. Proximity access cards restrict entry into every datacenter and the facility is completely locked down at all times. Facilities are also under video surveillance and monitored 24/7 from the NOC.

Network Infrastructure – Peering

The Network is fully redundant, uses redundant fiber entry points and connects only with Tier I upstream providers such as AT&T, Savvis, Sprint, and MCI. We guarantee 99.9% uptime. Redundant high bandwidth connectivity multiple OC-48 uplinks on diverse routes connect us to the world-class network with fully redundant power and network systems. Bandwidth Utilization

It is a common misconception that the amounts of bandwidth (size of the pipes that carry the data) differentiate web hosting companies. In reality, it is not only the size of the pipes that matters— it is the utilization levels. The utilization of our Internet connections is vital to a network's ability to transfer data without packet loss or latency. We aim to keep all connection usage below 50% to avoid any connectivity problems.

Dynamic Routing

The host runs the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4) for best case routing. The BGP4 protocol is a standard that allows the routing of packets of information to be sent out from our network. Each packet of information is evaluated and sent via the best route possible. Because of redundant network architecture, packets may be sent via alternative routes even if they are being delivered to the same end user. Should one of the providers fail, packets leaving our network are automatically redirected to another route via a different provider.

Network Security

Our network is a fully switched network. Traffic destined for a website hosted on a server is sent only through switching equipment necessary to deliver the information to that server. This minimizes the risk of someone sniffing or capturing traffic across the network.


Peering is fundamental to the network. It is the practice of exchanging free network access with another network provider. In a standard situation, as soon as a packet of information leaves our network, we have to pay for the distance it travels on other networks. But with peering, we give other networks access to the reach of our network in return for them allowing us to send packets over theirs. This extends the reach of the network, improves performance, and reduces cost, allowing us to deliver greater value to our clients. Since the Internet is based on the principle of global reachability, peering has become an essential part of the network landscape.
